The Costa Crociere “Fleet” is Upgraded with the BMWi3

MILAN, June 17, 2015 /3BL Media/ -  Costa Crociere is always committed to protect the environment and to act responsibly. A further step in this direction was made with the introduction of the first electric car in the Costa car fleet.

The vehicle is a new BMW i3 with AlphaElectric, the holistic ecosystem for the electrification of the fleet ideated by Alphabet, supplier of top level corporate mobility.

It will be used with immediate effect by the company’s employees for business purposes. The first Costa’s BMW i3 represents a text phase of a strategic partnership signed by Costa Crociere and Alphabet, in order to develop a plan focused on progressively minimizing environmental impact, involving also Costa employees.

“Thanks to this brand new electric vehicle, Costa people will have the opportunity to plan short but frequent trips – such as from our headquarters in Genoa to our cruise terminal Palacrociere in Savona – in full comfort and without CO2 emissions,” - commented Stefania Lallai, Sustainability and PR Director of Costa Crociere. “It’s an innovation that reinforce our commitment for sustainability, which is strong both ashore and onboard our ships.”

BMW i3 comes equipped with eDrive electric motors and allows short distance travel at zero emissions.
