EL SEGUNDO, Calif., March 26, 2014 /3BL Media/ – DIRECTV, as part of the company’s ongoing pledge to deliver the highest quality entertainment to its customers and its responsibilities as a corporate citizen, has instituted the Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition’s (EICC) Supplier Code of Conduct for its suppliers.

As part of this effort DIRECTV commits to progressively align its own operations with the provisions of the EICC Code of Conduct and to support and encourage its own first-tier suppliers to do the same. Wherever possible, DIRECTV will seek to adopt the EICC approach and tools in the spirit of the industry’s common goals.

“As a condition of doing business with DIRECTV, we expect suppliers to acknowledge and comply with these requirements and to communicate them to their suppliers, regardless of the location,” said Mike Palkovic, executive vice president of Services and Operations, DIRECTV. “DIRECTV’s goal is to achieve 100 percent compliance of suppliers with the Code by 2016.”

The Code applies to all companies outside the United States manufacturing electronic components used during DIRECTV product installations. The Code requires that DIRECTV suppliers comply with all relevant laws and that the suppliers’ working conditions are safe, workers are treated and respected with dignity, and that supplier business operations are conducted in an environmentally responsible and ethical manner.
