The MGM Resorts International Events team, along with hard-working volunteers, built a Vegas Baby!-themed float for the 16th annual Las Vegas PRIDE Night Parade, which took place downtown Sept. 5. MGM Resorts was the presenting sponsor of the parade and more than 100 employee volunteers, led by members of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) employee Network Group, walked alongside the Company float.

“We are here to support the cause and the Company,” said Lorena Sapien, EVS Attendant at MGM Grand Las Vegas. “It is so fun and I love being part of something that has meaning.”

Donning their best Viva Las Vegas costumes, they walked and cheered to celebrate and support the LGBT community. The spectacular float featured the Fabulous Neon Las Vegas Sign; illuminated props; sparkling accents including Liberace’s mirrored piano; cut-outs of iconic Strip signs like Vegas Vic and Sassy Sally; and multi-levels of performance platforms and displays.

Behind the float, the “Tourist Brigade” of volunteers and Inspiring Our World cast members danced a choreographed number before the thousands of spectators who lined Fourth Street. The Company has supported Las Vegas PRIDE and participated in PRIDE events, including the parade, since 2005.

“We’re excited to have a lot of coordination and energy behind our participation in the parade, and the LGBT group is excited to be a part of all of that,” said Tim Evans, chair of the LGBT Network Group and Director of Marketing at Luxor. “We really wanted to push the message out there as much as possible to come have fun with us.”
