Recently, the Green Chemistry & Commerce Council (GC3) recognized Eastman as one of only two companies with its 2016 Champion Award for leadership in value chain outreach and development of sustainable chemicals.

Eastman has a history of focusing on sustainable product development and innovation as well as a track record of working along the value chain to advance product sustainability downstream. Eastman has worked with the GC3 Retail Leadership council, which included five chemical companies and seven leading retailers in an effort to better understand product sustainability, accelerate the development and scale up of green chemistry solutions, and increase transparency in the value chain.

One such product example recognized by GC3 is Eastman Omnia™ high-performance solvent, which has a unique chemistry for cleaners that offers an exceptional combination of performance, safety, and value.  Members of Eastman’s Omnia team, including Carol Perkins, Dave Kossor and Mark Pavlin, presented a webinar as part of the GC3’s webinar series. The webinar was extremely well received and positioned Eastman to receive the Champion award.

Eastman’s director of Public Policy, Marc Schurger, and manager of Product Stewardship & Advocacy, Dawn Adcox, attended the GC3 meeting in Burlington, Vermont where Joel Tickner, director of GC3, awarded 2016 Champion Award to Eastman and Seventh Generation, a manufacturer of household cleaning products produced from primarily plant-based materials.

“The GC3 organization fosters collaboration among businesses, government, non-governmental organizations, and academic researchers to advance green chemistry, engineering and design,” said Schurger. “It is a true honor to be recognized by this organization and a testament to the great work of many Eastman women and men who strive to make us a more sustainable company.”
