Employees In The Community: North Berwick Jet Pull Teams Raise Awareness for Multiple Sclerosis
2014 marks Pratt & Whitney North Berwick's tenth year participating in the Portland International Jetport's Plane Pull, a fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society supported by FedEx. FedEx parks its Boeing 757 airplane on the tarmac; teams of 25 are then tasked to pull this more than 72-ton plane a distance of 12 feet in the fastest possible time, using a rope and attached tow bar.
Over the past 10 years North Berwick teams have placed first five times, second three times and fourth once. The 2014 Pratt & Whitney team not only took first place, but also set an all-time event record of a 4.29-second pull.
