More than two-thirds of American workers like their company’s CEO. Glassdoor, a job and career site where employees report anonymously on their bosses, has published a list that tells you exactly why. Glassdoor’s list of the 50 Highest Rated CEOs leading large corporations is based on ratings from employees in reviews of company culture and practices, both pros and cons; salary comparisons; and job interviews.

The list includes the CEOs of LinkedIn, Ford, Edelman, Northwestern Mutual, Qualcomm, Costco, Starbucks, Facebook, Deloitte, FedEx, Disney, and Marriott. For the first time, Glassdoor has also published a list of the Highest Ranked 25 CEOs leading small and mid-sized companies, those with less than 1,000 employees. While the names are less familiar—Intaact Corporation, Applied Predictable Technologies, Paylocity—well-liked executives at these companies do the same things. According to Glassdoor, highly ranked CEOs focus on “clearly communicating their vision, including being transparent about where the company is going, how they're going to get there, and how each employee plays a vital role.”

There is one glaring issue that affects both lists: the lack of women CEOs. Number 37 of the Highest Ranked CEOs at large companies, Sheren Turney of Victoria’s Secret, is the only woman included. There are no women on the list of 25 CEOs of small and mid-size companies. This is one area with a lot of room for improvement, even for those companies that are well managed.

I’m John Howell for 3BL Media.
