BSR has published a new report that analyzes the sustainability impacts of commercial transportation fuels. The report, the first in BSR’s “Future of Fuels” initiative, looks at six types of current and emerging fuels: gas and diesel, natural gas, biofuel, hydrogen, electric power, and the “fuel” represented by greater efficiency. The report also assesses the market outlook for the complete range of fuels.

The Rezidor Hotel Group, parent company of Radisson Blu, Park Inn, and Missoni brands, will reduce its annual energy consumption by 25 percent by the year 2016. The initiative, called “Think Planet,” will reduce energy at Rezidor’s 350 hotels in 70 countries.

Germany plans to cap renewable-energy subsidies when capacity reaches national targets. The state would end payments to wind and biomass as limits, which have not yet been set, are achieved. The German government is trying to cut the cost to consumers of its decision to phase out nuclear power following the nuclear plant accident in Japan.
