Commercial real estate owners are investing in cost-effective energy programs for financial return, according to a new report by Jones Lang LaSalle, a real estate services firm. The report, Global Sustainability Perspective, finds that owners are focusing on self-financed projects that demonstrate a direct financial payback, such as lighting retrofits and temperature controls. Most investment owners expect to attract more tenants with such energy efficiency upgrades, improving both their ROI and building value.

Avista Utilities has received a special recognition award from Seattle Business magazine. The award honors Avista’s 123-year legacy of clean power generation, energy efficiency programs, and innovations in sustainable business practices. The company has also been named as one of the 50 greenest companies in the state of Washington.
