London, UK, September 11, 2013 /3BL Media/ – Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical, and medical information products and services, today announced its official collaboration with the Energy Institute (EI) in organizing the first Energy Systems conference to be held 24-25 June 2014 in London.

Policy makers, researchers and energy industry figures today face an enormous challenge to develop a safer, more secure and sustainable global energy system. The underlying social, environmental and economic objectives are multiple and not always compatible, adding complexity to what is already a complicated system.

The Energy Systems conference will present new ways of thinking, required to properly analyze which structures, processes and policy approaches are needed to ensure technology integration and to drive change in investment, looked at in terms of the overall impact of policy initiatives at a system level.

“By organizing this conference together with Elsevier we aim to provide a forum for sharing expertise, developing understanding and providing recommendations on how best to develop the secure, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy system we need”, said Joan MacNaughton CB HonFEI, Past President, Energy Institute, and Executive Chair – Energy and Climate Policy Assessment, World Energy Council.

Bethan Keall, Elsevier’s Director of Energy Journals, added, “We are delighted to work so closely with the Energy Institute to organize the Energy Systems Conference next year. We see this as a key opportunity to work together with academia, industry representatives and policy leaders to seek long term, integrated solutions for the challenges facing the delivery of energy, both locally and globally.”

The Energy Systems Conference will be held 24-25 June, 2014 in London. Visit the conference website to submit an abstract and register as a delegate: www.energysystemsconference.com
