October 25, 2016 /3BL Media/ - With its inclusion in CDP’s 2016 Climate “A” List, FCA has been recognized once again as a global leader for its commitment and performance in addressing climate change.

Every year, thousands of organizations participate in the CDP initiative, which provides an independent assessment of their approach and performance in combating climate change. Only nine percent of participating organizations were included in this year’s “A” List. The results were published on October 25, 2016 in the CDP Global Climate Change Report “Out of the starting blocks: Tracking progress on corporate climate action,” which tracks the recent progress of the world’s largest listed companies.

FCA believes that effective, lasting solutions to climate change and other pressing environmental issues can only be achieved through an integrated approach that combines individual and collective commitment; an effective multi-stakeholder strategy; and investment in enabling processes and technologies. All of these elements are an integral part of the Group’s model of operating responsibly and have been recognized by CDP on the basis of transparency in disclosure and performance.

The principal results achieved in 2015 include:

  • European leadership in natural gas vehicles, with an approximate 50% share of the market
  • reduced environmental footprint of Group plants worldwide, with a 23.4% decrease in CO2 emissions per vehicle produced compared with 2010
  • combined savings of 2.3 billion m3 of water at Group plants worldwide
  • involvement of 225 business partners in the CDP Supply Chain program, extending the application of sustainability principles and best practices across the supply chain.

Since 2012, FCA has been one of a limited number of companies that actively participate in all CDP initiatives (Climate Change, Water, Forest and Supply Chain).

CDP is an international not-for-profit organization that provides the only global system for companies and cities to measure, disclose, manage and share essential environmental information relating to carbon emissions, water consumption and forest conservation. CDP operates on behalf of 827 institutional investors with USD 100 trillion in assets.
