Florida Department of Health in Broward County and ArtServe Announce Jury For Art to End Aids Mural Project

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., January 28, 2016 /3BL Media/ – Florida Department of Health in Broward County (DOH-Broward) and ArtServe announce the Jury panelists for the “Art to End AIDS” public mural project that is part of the broader HIV Ends With Me and Broward Greater Than AIDS campaigns.

DOH-Broward is working with ArtServe to create a public mural in Broward County that will depict images and messages that promote the HIV Ends With Me themes of being tested and knowing your HIV/AIDS status. The mural will be revealed in conjunction with the annual United States Conference on AIDS to be held in Fort Lauderdale in fall 2016.

The panel of jurors includes members from the arts community, public art officials, and healthcare professionals to ensure the winning mural maintains the highest standard of artistic excellence while holding true to the HIV ENDS WITH ME theme. Jurors include: George Gadson, business leader and professional artist; Terrence Davis, curator; Richard E. White, art and design consultant and adjunct professor at Broward College in Fort Lauderdale; and Wilma Bulkin Siegel, M.D., award winning artist and community activist noted for her work using art as an educational and healing tool to raise awareness of important social issues. 

 “We are honored to have such a prestigious group of individuals serving on the Art to End AIDS Jury,” said Evelyn Ullah, Director, HIV/AIDS and Viral Hepatitis Prevention Program, DOH-Broward. “Through their help in selecting an artist for the mural, we will be sure to create an enduring public message on HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness for the citizens of Broward County.”
