GE Announces “Farewell” to CFL Bulbs by Year’s End

Compact fluorescent lights (CFL) were the first major energy-saving alternative to incandescent bulbs. However, in recent years, as the quality of LED lights improved and their prices dropped steadily, manufacturers and retailers began switching their efforts in that direction.

Now, GE has announced that it is ready to phase out the CFL. The company will stop producing and selling these bulbs in the U.S. by the end of the year.
