General Mills has improved the health profile of 68 percent of its U.S. retail sales volume, as measured against 2005 levels, when the company first began tracking and quantifying health improvements. Changes include adding whole grains, fiber and calcium, and reducing calories, sugar, sodium, and trans fat.

The National Clean Energy Summit 5.0, held earlier this month in Las Vegas, introduced the latest advances in sustainability to promote clean energy. The annual conference attracted clean energy leaders, public officials, business executives, and was presented by Resorts International, the Clean Energy Project, the Center for American Progress, and the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Research into water is growing faster than the average 4 percent annual growth rate for all research disciplines, says a new report issued by Elsevier and Stockholm International Water Institute, during the 2012 World Water Week. Water resources research is growing at a rate of 9 percent a year. The report, “The Water and Food Nexus,” analyzes major trends in water and food-related article output at international, national, and institutional levels.
