In recognition of Women’s History Month, Legg Mason and Affiliate employees honored and celebrated the achievements of women by attending several events around the world.

London

London employees and members of our Women’s Leadership Network (WLN) Employee Resource Group (ERG) met over lunch and discussed the significance of International Women's Day, benefits of networking with other women, the history of WLN and potential future professional development activities .

Melbourne

Employees in Melbourne attended a Business Chicks awards luncheon that featured 2016 Australian of the Year, General David Morrison, and 2015 award winner, Rosie Batty, who became a national figure in Australia for the strength and resilience she displayed when speaking to the media shortly after the murder of her 11-year old son in 2014. Since then, Ms. Batty has become a leader in the crusade against domestic violence in Australia and has turned her personal tragedy into a fight to help others.

New York

Women from Legg Mason, and Affiliates, ClearBridge Investments, QS Investors and Royce & Associates, attended the Sixth Annual International Women's Day Forum, hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation Corporate Citizenship Center, the United Nations Office for Partnerships and Microsoft.

The Forum's theme was "The Business of Inclusion: Global Prosperity through Women and Girls Empowerment."

Fran Cashman, Co-Head of US Sales and Legg Mason’s Executive Diversity Council Chair, attended the New York celebration and noted, "Unique partnerships coming together over shared passions were evident throughout the day. We each left inspired by the power of collaboration and diversity. What an appropriate way to celebrate International Women’s Day with our Women’s Leadership Network colleagues."
