The healthcare field has added 31,000 jobs in October, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. 25,000 people were hired in ambulatory health care services while hospitals added 6,000 more jobs. That brings the total jobs increase in the healthcare sector to 296,000 for the year to date.

Kaiser Permanente has teamed up with the Partnership for a Healthier America to provide healthier food offerings in its 37 hospitals. Over the next four years, the company’s facilities will create wellness meals, label food and beverage items with calorie counts, limit unhealthy beverages, and increase the amount of food spend on fruits and vegetables to 10 percent of the total. Kaiser Permanente joins 16 other hospital systems in the partnership initiative.
