Seattle, Wash., April 21, 2014 /3BL Media/ — Holland America Line has appointed Ann Burris as their local community relations representative for the line’s corporate giving team. Burris is based in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., one of Holland America Line’s seasonal homeports.

In this role, Burris will be responsible for overseeing corporate giving initiatives in the Ft. Lauderdale area, including sponsorships and shipboard events. She will report to Pamela Baade, manager of corporate giving, who is based in the company’s Seattle headquarters.

“Giving back is part of the Holland America Line culture, and we’re thrilled to welcome Ann back to our team,” said Richard Meadows, executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programs for Holland America Line. “She has exceptional experience working with charitable and nonprofit organizations, and she brings a tremendous amount of knowledge to our efforts to provide a positive and meaningful impact in the Ft. Lauderdale community.”

Burris returns to Holland America Line in the position she created in 2006. She was the company’s first community relations representative and was instrumental in developing the line’s corporate giving program in its homeport markets. Burris has been involved with many charitable organizations and has experience in sponsorships, shipboard events and public relations. She has served as a board member of Seafarers’ House at Port Everglades and St. Mark’s Episcopal School, chair of the Golden Compass Award Dinner and chair of Symphony of Americas.

Each year, Holland America Line hosts more than 25 shipboard charity luncheons for nearly 5,000 guests in its U.S. homeport cities. In addition, Holland America Line and its corporate foundation’s charitable-giving programs provide cash sponsorships, in-kind donations, free- and reduced-fare cruise donations for nonprofit fundraising events, donations of usable shipboard items around the world, employee volunteerism and other philanthropic activities.
