Aged care is a reality that many of us will have to face at some point. In the States, the population is ageing at a significant rate. In America more than 90 percent of adults don’t have long term care insurance, while four in ten now care for loved ones. The Department of Health and Human Services projects the population older than 85 will more than double by 2040 – a part of society that tends to require expensive and intensive medical care. Older Americans are increasingly worried about the health-care costs in their future, but few are taking steps to prepare.

The projected demands from a growing elderly population on a health care system that is currently taxed, together with continual advances and availability of expensive life-extending technology, have led to troubling questions about society's ability to look after its aging population. Now, Genworth has unveiled a short educational video, “Let’s Talk Now,” with well-known actors and media personalities Angela Bassett, Jim Nantz, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Maria Shriver, Rob Lowe and Zachary Quinto, that urges Americans to sit down with their family members and friends to prepare for their long term care needs.
