Davidson, N.C., June 9, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Gretchen Digby, director of Global Sustainability Programs, Center for Energy Efficiency & Sustainability (CEES) at Ingersoll Rand, a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, will join the Conference Board of Canada and UL Environment to present the role Ingersoll Rand’s successful Design for Sustainability (DfS) program plays in product innovation and sustainability at the company.

The webinar presentation, entitled “Sustainable Customer Offerings: Making Products a Force for Social Good — Not Just ‘Less Bad’,” will begin at 2 p.m. ET on June 17, 2015. This special, 60-minute webinar will deepen knowledge of industry trends and strategies and will educate organizations on how to create customer value through enhancing product’s sustainability features.

“We designed DfS to build employee competency on sustainable design to leverage as they work through the product development process. DfS teaches our employees to think in terms of the different facets of sustainability and leads to a stronger, better-informed decision making process,” said Digby. “We hope sharing our learnings and insights with others through this webinar will encourage them to begin thinking about how they can embed sustainability into their processes to make well-informed decisions.”

Ingersoll Rand’s CEES partnered with UL Environment to develop the exclusive DfS Certificate Program to complement Ingersoll Rand’s product development process. While ULE traditionally certifies products and processes, this is the first program it has developed to  to distinguish people.

“More and more companies are investing in innovations that improve the social and environmental impacts of their products to meet customer demands and reduce reliance on natural resources,” says Coro Strandberg, the webinar moderator and a North American leader in transformational corporate sustainability strategies. “Ingersoll Rand’s integration of DfS is setting the bar in its industry and beyond. This webinar is a must for those interested in understanding these trends and what to do about them.”
