On one of the coldest nights in winter, South Africa’s CEO’s and business leaders, including KFC Africa Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Doug Smart, slept under the Johannesburg stars for one night, to create hope and a home for South Africa's most vulnerable children.

The 702 Sun International CEO SleepOut challenge invites business leaders to engage business as a force for good, and show their compassion and commitment to social change by participating in a movement to raise funds and awareness in support of South Africa’s homeless and at risk children.

In support of this heart-warming initiative, KFC South Africa created an “Add Hope” Wall of Hope displaying solar powered jars containing questions asked by the children of Girls and Boys Town South Africa, a beneficiary partner of the event. The questions were directed to the participating business leaders to answer a question and switch on their lanterns as a representation of hope.

“Our KFC Wall of Hope was one of the main attractions for the evening, many of the CEOs interacted with our wall and posted great comments on our brand involvement. My experience was definitely one I will never forget, it was a big night, where KFC shone the light of Hope for many,” said KFC CEO, Doug Smart of the event.

To date, KFC has raised nearly $2 Million (R 24MM) to support the 702 Sun International Project. The company hopes this contribution will go a long way to helping the children of South Africa.
