AEG’s LA Kings and Kings Care Foundation partnered with Hydrocephalus Association (HA) for the 4th year to host joint 5K/10K races and a fundraising walk on Saturday, Sept. 9. Through aligning efforts, the events raised nearly $1 million in support of research since 2014 including more than $200,000 this past weekend.

The LA Kings Beach Cities 5K/10K was hosted by Daryl Evans and attended by LA Kings fans as well as residents of the beach cities and beyond. Current LA Kings players, including Dustin Brown, Marian Gaborik, Alec Martinez, Jake Muzzin, Nick Shore, Tanner Pearson, Anze Kopitar, Kyle Clifford, Michael Cammalleri, Tyler Toffoli, Jeff Carter, Jeff Zatkoff, Andy Andreoff and Jordan Nolan, joined team alumni and executives in showing their support of the Hydrocephalus Association by wearing t-shirts with the slogan “NO MORE BRAIN SURGERIES” in recognition of HA’s campaign to find a cure, thus ending the need for brain surgeries.

“It is very special to see our players taking time out of their personal lives to attend this event in support of HA and over 1 million people affected by Hydrocephalus.” said Jennifer Pope, VP of Community Relations and Kings Care Foundation. “Every dollar and every opportunity to enhance awareness for HA goes a long way towards finding a cure.”

The LA Kings Beach Cities 5K/10K was elevated this year with the introduction of new, certified courses that guided participants through areas of downtown Redondo Beach, in residential neighborhoods as far as Hermosa Beach and finally along the coast. Outside the course, participants had access to the vendor village with giveaways, refreshments and more.

“None of this would be possible without the cooperation of our local Redondo and Hermosa Beach city officials and police. We are so thankful to them and our sponsors for making the LA Kings Beach Cities 5K/10K an event to remember year after year” said Daryl Evans, LA Kings Radio Analyst. “I look forward to it and I know that anyone that has attended [the LA Kings Beach Cities 5K/10K] before does too.”

The LA Kings Beach Cities 5K/10K is proudly supported by 24 Hour Fitness, adidas, Blue Shield of California, Frontier Communications, HiDow, Lenny & Larry’s, McDonalds and Zignature.
