Las Vegas Prepares to Commemorate Earth Hour

LAS VEGAS - You may notice the Strip looking a little darker Saturday evening. Several properties will dim their lights in honor of Earth Hour 2014.

The annual tradition was created in 2007 by the World Wildlife Fund to draw attention to global environmental issues.

This year's event features everyone's favorite web slinger. The stars and director behind The Amazing Spider Man 2 are pledging their support.

Several cities around the world, including Las Vegas, are participating in Earth Hour to raise environmental awareness.

While turning off non-essential lights, such as roof-top marquees, for an hour will not make a difference on power bills, it does send a message about the importance of sustainability.
