Las Vegas Prepares to Commemorate Earth Hour

Thursday, April 10, 2014 - 2:00pm

LAS VEGAS - You may notice the Strip looking a little darker Saturday evening. Several properties will dim their lights in honor of Earth Hour 2014.

The annual tradition was created in 2007 by the World Wildlife Fund to draw attention to global environmental issues.

Several cities around the world, including Las Vegas, are participating in Earth Hour to raise environmental awareness.

While turning off non-essential lights, such as roof-top marquees, for an hour will not make a difference on power bills, it does send a message about the importance of sustainability.
