OAKLAND, Calif., October 16, 2017 /3BL Media/ – The Taproot Foundation is gathering leaders from across sectors for the first-of-its-kind leadership convening—Leading the Way—on Tuesday, October 24, at the Google Community Space in San Francisco.

“The social sector is facing increasing challenges—and opportunities—requiring its leaders to be innovative and flex to meet the needs of our communities,” said Elizabeth Schwan-Rosenwald, Taproot’s Chief External Relations Officer. “Pro bono offers a way to support and resolve those needs through the use of cross-sector partnerships. We’re excited to bring together this gathering to further the conversation and harness the energy around this critical issue.”

Taproot’s invitation-only convening will focus on pro bono as a unique tool for personal and professional development through experiential learning, both for the volunteer and the nonprofit professional who benefits from pro bono. Leaders from Prudential Financial, San Francisco Foundation, Transgender Law Center, BoardSource, Paradigm Consulting, AirBnB and more will guide discussions that highlight pro bono opportunities at the intersection of leadership development and diversity, equity and inclusion, and how board service can drive the growth of talented leaders.

“Prudential is thrilled to be a part of Leading the Way,” says Spring Lacy, vice president of corporate & community engagement, Prudential Financial, Inc. “We infuse leadership development into our pro bono programs at all levels, and I’m excited to share the outcomes and opportunities we’ve uncovered through our partnership with Taproot.”

Leading the Way is generously sponsored by Prudential Financial, Inc., and is part of Taproot’s 2017 leadership initiative, which empowers nonprofit and corporate leaders to practice the essential leadership skills needed in our future workplaces through pro bono service.
