This week, Global Sourcing Council's 17 Weeks for 17 SDGs Intiative explores Goal 4 with examples of action from organizations and businesses to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The Global Challenge: Why Take Action?

In developing countries around the world, 57 million children are not enrolled in school. Even when they do attend school, many students do not learn to read and write, or the skills they gain do not match workplace needs. To date, much private investment in education has been small, short-term, uncoordinated and unequally distributed.

Your Business Opportunity:

A lack of relevant skills in the supply chain deprives businesses of the talent they need. Education can unleash the skills, talent and ingenuity needed for the private sector to thrive. A more educated workforce also leads to greater disposable income for consumer spending. It is in the vital interest of each business entity to actively participate in increasing literacy, and a broad range of other learning and educational opportunities, in areas they operate in, as the foundation for future growth.
