Legg Mason recently held a launch event for their newest Employee Resource Group (ERG), Veterans Education, Training & Support (VETS). The employee-led group was formed to promote the recruiting, professional development, and alliance of military veterans at Legg Mason while raising awareness, advocacy, and support for veterans in our community. Employees who are members of the group come together, share ideas  and learn from each other with a focus on veterans and veteran causes.

VETS was inaugurated with a special event showcasing the recently published book For Love Of Country – What Our Veterans Can Teach Us About Citizenship, Heroism, and Sacrifice, by Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks, and Rajiv Chandrasekaran, former reporter for the Washington Post. Rajiv was in attendance, and he spoke of the heroism of our veterans and the importance of engaging them in meaningful work post service. The kick-off event attracted a large audience among multiple locations.

The VETS ERG is Legg Mason’s 7th employee-led group, sponsored by its Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council. Other Legg Mason ERGs include: African Americans Helping to Enhance and Advance Diversity, Developing Professionals Network, LGBT Employees and Allies for Diversity, Global Professional Services, Parents Alliance, and Women’s Leadership Network. While each group has a specific focus, all ERGs include professional development, networking and community components.
