Local CITGO Marketer Quality State Oil Company to Host Bess the Book Bus Free Book Giveaway at Mead Public Library on Tuesday

SHEBOYGAN, Wis., May 5, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Sheboygan area children can pick out a free book on Tuesday, May 5 when Bess the Book Bus makes a stop at the Mead Public Library from 2:30PM-4:30PM, courtesy of CITGO and Quality State Oil Company. Miss Wisconsin, Raeanna Johnson, will also be on hand to help distribute books and meet with children who will all receive a refillable beverage cup (while supplies last) that can be used at any of the area Quality State Q Mart locations.
“Working with our partner CITGO, we brought Bess the Book bus to Sheboygan because we know there are kids here who don’t have access to books,” said Scott Stangel, wholesale marketing manager for CITGO marketer Quality State Oil Company and president of the Sheboygan Optimist Club. “Encouraging our young people to read early and often is a key building block to helping them achieve success in school and beyond. We hope to see a lot of kids at the event!”
Bess the Book Bus is a mobile literacy outreach program founded in 2002 by Jennifer Frances in honor of her grandmother, Bess O'Keefe. Frances now travels the country in the bus, handing out free books to children who have never owned a book of their own to help spread the joy of reading. CITGO Petroleum Corporation is one of the main sponsors of Bess the Book Bus as part of its larger Fueling Good initiative, designed to give back to the communities the company serves through local civic and charitable engagement.
