Make-A-Wish and Macy's Grant 50 Wishes Across America on National Believe Day

Dec 11, 2014 3:30 PM ET
In 2013, 15-year-old wish kid Courtney was granted her wish to have a shopping spree on National Believe Day at Macy's.

This Friday, Dec. 12, is National Believe Day and to celebrate Make-A-Wish®, with the help of Macy’s, will grant more than 50 Wishes Across America to children with life-threatening medical conditions.

National Believe Day is part of the multi-faceted, highly successful Believe campaign that has raised more than $8.7 million dollars for Make-A-Wish throughout the campaign’s seven-year history.

The Believe campaign encourages believers of all ages to write letters to Santa Claus and drop them off in a Macy’s store Santa letterbox, or online at macys.com/believe. For every letter written between Nov. 7, when the Believe campaign officially began, and Dec. 24 Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1,000,000. National Believe Day is a pinnacle moment during Believe, with more than 50 wishes being celebrated and all letters written and submitted on this day only generating a double donation of $2, up to an additional $1 million.

New to Believe this year, the Macy’s Believe Together Hub at MacysBelieveTogether.com will capture and compile National Believe Day social media posts, photos, and videos from the hashtag #MacysBelieve and wish kid-specific hashtags across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram so everyone can be part of the wish experience.

ABOUT MAKE-A-WISH
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. According to a 2011 U.S. study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed believe a wish-come-true has positive impacts on the health of children. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illness, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family. Headquartered in Phoenix, Make-A-Wish is one of the world's leading children's charities, serving children in every community in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and more than 25,000 volunteers, Make-A-Wish grants a wish somewhere in the country every 38 minutes. It has granted more than 254,000 wishes since its inception in 1980; more than 14,000 in 2013 alone. Visit Make-A-Wish at www.wish.org to learn more.
