Food & Beverage Team Members had the opportunity to showcase sustainable, new and exciting epicurean creations during the prestigious, inaugural Culinary Olympics held at Marina Bay Sands.  Las Vegas Sands and its properties are committed to helping Team Member thrive and advance in hospitality industry, and this event was another great platform to encourage our on-property culinary talents.

“This competition encourages our Team Members to be as creative and imaginative as they choose to be,” Christine Kaelbel-Sheares, Vice President of Food & Beverage said.  “They will also have the opportunity to be coached by our talented pool of executive chefs from all our celebrity chef restaurants.”

With the theme “Internationally-inspired, locally-sourced, consciously-curated”, participants were challenged to use the freshest ingredients and items locally sourced from around the region to create their dishes.  All ingredients should be sustainable and healthy.  The Culinary Olympics was open to all Food & Beverage Team Members except Executive Chefs and above.

“Our F&B Team Members prepare amazing meals for our guests, but there are just as many who delight their friends and family at home,” Kaeblbel-Sheares said.  “This competition allows everyone from F&B to showcase their ‘hidden’ skills.  We also look forward to expanding the competitive field next year by opening the competition up to all Team Members.”

Nine semi-finalists were assigned a mentor to assist on technique, portioning and presentation for the cook-off that took place on February 22.  The finalists will participate in a cook-off judged by a panel including a guest celebrity chef, at Bread Street Kitchen on Friday, March 3.  The winning dish will be featured in Rise Restaurant’s upcoming menu and the winner receives the prize of a dinner for four at Bread Street Kitchen.
