BENTON HARBOR, Mich., Nov. 12, 2015 /3BL Media/ - During Major League Baseball's 2015 All-Star Game Week, an industry-first activation was announced that made Maytag brand the Official Washer and Dryer of MLB. As part of this partnership, Maytag installed a Maytag® Top Load Washer in the outfield stands at the home ballparks of the Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers. If a player, either from the home or visiting team, hit a home run and the ball landed inside the washer, Maytag would donate $1 million to local Boys & Girls Clubs in that market. Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) has long-standing relationships with Maytag and MLB.

Despite a few close calls, the baseball season concluded without a ball landing in any of the washers; however, Maytag will build on its current support of BGCA by making a donation of $100,000 across 10 local Boys & Girls Clubs in Arlington, Atlanta, Chicago andKansas City. The donation will go towards updating facilities, purchasing new gym equipment and boosting recruitment efforts. These 10 Clubs will also be offered a new Maytag Top Load Washer and Dryer pair.

"We are thrilled that our relationship with Major League Baseball has resulted in support for the children of these cities," says Brendan Bosch, Maytag Senior Brand Manager. "Maytag has been involved with Boys & Girls Clubs of America for a long time and we look forward to evolving that relationship in meaningful and engaging ways."

As part of its larger activation with MLB as the league's Official Washer and Dryer, Maytag and MLB are hosting four online auctions to raise additional funds for BGCA. Visit MLB.com/MaytagAuction to bid on the Maytag Power Pack which includes a Maytag Top Load Washer and Dryer pair, one-of-a-kind baseball experiences, tickets to a 2016 MLB regular season game and a $2,000 MLB.com gift card. All proceeds from the auction benefit BGCA.

"Boys & Girls Clubs of America is grateful for our wonderful partnerships with Major League Baseball and Maytag," says Frank Sanchez, National Vice President, Sports, Entertainment & Alumni Development at BGCA. "This donation creates valuable access to important experiences like playing baseball with new gym equipment or finding a mentor at a Club.  For many local kids and teens in these communities, those are vital opportunities."
