Microsoft is expanding its Technology Education and Literacy in Schools program which focuses on the shortage of computer science teachers. TEALS recruits, mentors, and places high-tech professionals in schools that are struggling to provide strong computer science courses. TEALS is part of Microsoft’s YouthSpark initiative, which aims to create opportunities for 300 million youth around the world.

The Sodexo Foundation has received $21,000 from Shoes for Crews as part of their joint effort to fight childhood hunger. SFT, a maker of slip-resistant work shoes, and Sodexo have raised $179,000 in the nine years of their partnership.

Leonardo Academy President Michael Arny has received an award from the Coalition for Responsible Fire Protection for leadership in that area. Arny is chair of a committee that is developing The Contractors Guide to Responsible Fire Protection that will help contractors reduce their environmental impacts, track the achievements, and communicate them to customers.
