Millions of Girls Are Doing Amazing Things #LikeAGirl

Always campaign is changing perceptions and building confidence during puberty

Last summer, we launched our Always #LikeAGirl campaign to shed a light on the power of words and how the commonly-used phrase “like a girl”—often used as an insult—can have a significant effect on girls’ self-confidence.

Seen by more than 85 million people around the world in 150 countries, the Always #LikeAGirl video delivered a powerful message to young girls to help them maintain confidence at puberty. It also inspired millions of girls around the world to take action by sharing what they proudly do #LikeAGirl.

Leading up to International Women’s Day on March 8, a day to appreciate and celebrate women’s achievements, Always is celebrating these incredible girls with the release of a new video entitled “Always #LikeAGirl – Stronger Together.”

The #LikeAGirl campaign has demonstrated the profound effect the phrase “like a girl” can have on girls’ self-confidence, but it has also inspired a movement and has started to change public perception.

In fact, research shows that, before the Always campaign, only 19 percent of females ages 16-24 had a positive association with the phrase “like a girl.” After watching the video, 76 percent of girls between the ages of 16-24 agree they will no longer view “like a girl” as an insult. And, 59 percent of men said it changed their perception of the phrase “like a girl.”*
