CAMPAIGN: Conflict Minerals

Building professionals are descending on Philadelphia this week for the U.S. Green Building Council's annual conference, Greenbuild.  With its workshops, presentations and celebrities like Bon Jovi giving a concert, it is described as the largest green building conference and expo in the world. But aside from all the hype, there is a clear message at the conference that momentum is building around materials transparency in the building world.

One of the main recent concerns in the building process is the disclosure of products used that have impacts on human health and the life cycle of the structure.  Companies that are pursuing full disclosure should look for socially and environmentally responsible materials as well as sourcing where the raw material come from.

It is important to increase this disclosure so as to give clarity to building professionals and consumers alike.  As consumers become more environmental conscious, the demand for transparency in the building process will be in higher demand.  On the surface the tracing of a supply chain dose not seem like a daunting task, but as many U.S. publicly traded companies are finding out trying to comply with Dodd-Frank 1502, it is a lot of data to compile and asses. To fix this problem they are hiring sourcing companies like Source intelligence.  Their analytics platform along with their Supplier Engagement Team, engages suppliers, collects, verifies and assesses conflict minerals-related data and generates the required forms and reports needed to comply.

Source Intelligence is presenting a complimentary webinar that will give your company what it needs to meet the 2013 reporting requirements. To attend click HERE.
