NEW YORK, November 6, 2014 /3BL Media/ – The Morgan Stanley Foundation today announced a $1 million grant to Children’s Health Fund in continuation of its long-standing partnership with the organization.  Over the next three years, the funds will enable Children’s Health Fund to enhance its services in four U.S. cities – New York, Chicago, Miami and San Francisco.

“Children’s Health Fund’s work to provide comprehensive healthcare to underserved children aligns directly with our mission of ensuring more children get a healthy start to life,” said Joan Steinberg, Global Head of Philanthropy.  “Through this grant and the urban-based initiatives it supports, we hope to make a real impact on children through consistent and needed access to care.”

The funding from the Morgan Stanley Foundation will support a range of nutrition, health and wellness education and screening in each city, including:

  • In Chicago, the grant will fund a new mobile medical clinic and provide care coordination support for ongoing programming in the city.  Once completed, the mobile medical clinic will serve 1,400 children annually.
  • In Miami and New York, funding will support dedicated care professionals who see more than 800 pediatric patients annually.
  • In San Francisco, the funding will sustain the San Francisco Peninsula Children’s Health Project which delivers 600 mental health visits and 1,000 nutrition/fitness encounters each year.

“The generous and steadfast support of Morgan Stanley over two decades has helped us provide high-quality care to homeless and low-income children in major cities across America,” said Karen Redlener, Executive Director of Children’s Health Fund.  “With this new and significantly increased commitment, we are now able to build a much-needed new mobile clinic to reach thousands of children in Chicago, as well as connect vulnerable Miami kids to critical health services.”

The Morgan Stanley Foundation has supported Children’s Health Fund annually since 1992, and recently completed a three-year, $750,000 grant in 2013 that also helped to support direct programming in New York, San Francisco and Chicago.
