NEW YORK, July 11, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Morgan Stanley has been named Best Bank for Corporate Social Responsibility by Euromoney magazine. The Firm received the honor for its significant and far-reaching efforts to integrate social responsibility across its products, services and operations. The award was presented yesterday at Euromoney’s 2014 Awards for Excellence event in London, and this is the first time the magazine has given out the Best Bank for Corporate Social Responsibility honor.

“Social responsibility is central to the culture at Morgan Stanley,” said Tom Nides, Vice Chairman at Morgan Stanley. “The Best Bank for Corporate Social Responsibility award speaks to the dedication of our tens of thousands of employees who work around the globe to make a positive impact in the communities where they work and live. Additionally, the honor highlights our Firm’s commitment and dedication to sustainable investing, an effort we see as key to mobilizing private capital to address pressing global challenges.”

In November, Morgan Stanley established the Institute for Sustainable Investing, which seeks to drive capital toward investments promoting sustainable economic growth and which builds on the Firm’s ongoing work to advance market-based solutions to economic, social and environmental challenges.

Euromoney wrote, “Last year’s launch of the Institute for Sustainable Investing tipped the scales in favour of this bank in a competitive field brimming with impressive work.  …  The firm has taken a leading role in many of the watershed moments in this rapidly developing market, including being involved in the first billion-dollar green bond deal.”

In addition to the award from Euromoney, Morgan Stanley was honored at the end of last year as the top community-minded company for its size and industry by The Civic 50, an annual assessment by media organization Bloomberg and the nonprofits National Conference on Citizenship and Points of Light. The Civic 50 recognizes companies for their commitment to improve the quality of life in the communities where they do business.

Euromoney added, “[I]t was Morgan Stanley’s commitment from the very highest levels of management to the 24,000 employees that volunteered for various schemes in 2013 that won the bank this inaugural award.”
