LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 4, 2016 /3BL Media/ You know it’s Derby when Mint Juleps are popping up in stores. The Old Forester Mint Julep is now on store shelves for a second year as the “official drink of the Kentucky Derby”. To celebrate, the brand is bringing back the popular theme, #DerbyLikeALocal. Louisvillians know that to “Derby Like a Local,” includes planning your travel to and from the party and consuming responsibly. In conjunction with this theme, Old Forester is teaming up with Taxi 7 to ensure consumers have an enjoyable, but safe Derby experience.

Old Forester is partnering with Taxi 7 to offer consumers ten dollars off a safe ride May 4 through May 8. To receive the discount, consumers who are 21 years of age or older must download the Taxi 7 mobile app, enter code OLDFORESTER and request a ride.

“Responsibility plays a crucial role in our #DerbyLikeALocal celebrations. As the longest, continuously distilled bourbon brand made right here in Louisville, Old Forester is thrilled to partner with Taxi 7 in efforts to keep this Derby a safe one,” said Campbell Brown, president of Old Forester and fifth generation Brown family member. “Old Forester asks you to #DerbyLikeALocal by making a safe choice when you celebrate one of Louisville’s greatest traditions.”

During Derby week, consumers 21 or older will be invited to participate in the Old Forester’s “seek and find” for a chance to win a home bartending kit. Entrants are asked to submit to the Old Forester photo hunt displayed on the Taxi 7 digital screens, then following and tweeting @OldForester their answers to the missing items in the photo with #OFPhotoHuntSweeps.

The winner will be randomly drawn on May 9th. The bartending prize package includes a 60 quart cooler, mixing glass, jigger, strainer, muddler, bar spoon, four ice trays, four old fashioned glasses, leather coasters, bar mat, bartender shaker, bar towel, and a “Derby Like A Local” t-shirt.

Brown-Forman Corporate Responsibility Manager, Taylor Amerman, will provide tips all week for responsible consumption during Derby festivities. Her tips encompass everything from staying hydrated, sipping on mocktails, eating plenty of food, and planning ahead to get home safely.

“Old Forester and Brown-Forman are committed to reducing alcohol misuse and abuse and encouraging responsible consumer enjoyment of our brands,” said Taylor Amerman, Brown-Forman corporate responsibility manager. “We are proud to partner with Taxi 7 to help everyone have a fun and safe Derby weekend."
