This April, Rebuilding Together Baltimore will provide critical repairs to 20 homes with the help of over 500 volunteers on National Rebuilding Day, April 25. Volunteers will be working in two target neighborhoods- Woodbourne-McCabe and North Point Village.

Rebuilding Together Baltimore is working in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake in the Woodbourne-McCabe neighborhood; Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake is renovating the vacant homes and Rebuilding Together Baltimore is restoring the homes of low-income homeowners in the neighborhood. “We are working with other organizations who are trying to revitalize our city,” said Bonnie Bessor, executive director of Rebuilding Together Baltimore.

This partnership allows Rebuilding Together Baltimore to make a bigger impact in the Woodbourne-McCabe neighborhood, creating a full transformation of a community and the homes they serve. Rebuilding Together Baltimore is committed to helping make the neighborhood a stronger, safer, and healthier place to live.

Homeowners like Esther and Donald are seeing the change in their neighborhood. They have owned their home in Woodbourne-McCabe for 31 years. They help take care of many of their grandchildren and great grandchildren, one of whom lives with them. Their home will receive new handrails on the stairs leading to the basement and second floor, a new sump pump, grab bars in the bathroom, and repairs to the front porch. These repairs will enable Esther and Donald to live safely and independently in their home.

This project is part of National Rebuilding Month, a nationwide call to provide safe and healthy homes for America’s low-income homeowners and families across the country during the month of April leading up to National Rebuilding Day on April 25, an annual culmination of the month’s events.
