Republic Services (NYSE: RSG) recently announced the recipients of its second annual Environmental Stewardship Scholarship program with the Washington County School District. Each year, Republic Services offers a $500 scholarship to graduating seniors from each of the area's high schools. The scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, environmental stewardship and extracurricular achievement.

Students applying for the program are required to submit a resume, bio and essay that portray what environmental stewardship and environmental responsibility means to them and ways that we can improve the local environment and community. Recipients are selected by a panel of community leaders and professionals at Republic Services.
