SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Mar. 5, 2015 /3BL Media/ — High school students from across the Bay Area will compete at SAP’s SuccessFactors campus in South San Francisco this Saturday, March 7 at this year’s Youth Innovator Hackathon. Sponsored by SAP and Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), the hackathon aims to inspire and engage young people, introduce them to new business and technology concepts, and open up their possibilities for the future.

More than 80 Bay Area high school students are expected to participate in this exciting hands-on design thinking challenge where over the course of the day students will design, create, and pitch a mobile app to address a pressing social issue in education, healthcare or the environment. Students will learn and apply design thinking methodology to develop their concept, and each student team will work with volunteer coaches and mentors from SAP, Stanford’s and the community to refine their concept, create a user interface for their app, and develop a compelling pitch. Students will present their app ideas in front of six judges as they compete to win top prizes.

Entrepreneurship education is a fundamental tool for creating an ongoing cycle of learning and innovation that will bring sustainable job creation and re-creation. NFTE and SAP join together in support of this important mission, and with this high school hackathon aim to promote intensive collaboration on an innovative software project in an environment that is educational, social and competitive.
