Communities in Schools of Nevada (CIS) recently honored Sands Cares, Las Vegas Sands’ corporate giving program, as the Corporate Partners of the Year.  Since 2012, Las Vegas Sands and Sands Cares have donated over $270,000 to CIS and in 2017, Sands Cares donated $10,000 to CIS, offsetting the cost of college application fees and post-secondary interests for CIS seniors.

“The ongoing relationship between Sands Cares and CIS stems from our mutual mission to create stronger communities through education,” Stephanie Stanton, Director of Operations, Sands Cares The Venetian | The Palazzo.  “We know that the only way to continue to have thriving destinations where people want to live, work and play require the foundation of sound educational institutions and resources. CIS provides that by being present in the schools to provide the basic tools needed to achieve success in a classroom setting – caring adults, supplies and curriculum to dissuade students from dropping out.”

Communities in Schools (CIS) of Nevada works within the public school system, determining students’ needs and establishing relationships with local businesses, social service agencies, health care providers, and parent and volunteer organizations to provide needed resources.  CIS carefully evaluates all aspects of our programs and use the information gathered to constantly improve.  Sands Cares has become one of the largest partners in CIS’s Fill the Bus Back to School supply drive, collecting truckloads of school supplies to benefit students each school year.  Sands Cares dedication to education is also seen through the creation of the Sands Education Council, which CIS is a council member.

“Being recognized by a community organization cements we are moving in the right direction in our mission to make an impact on the issues most important to our business and our Team Members,” Stanton said.  “We are honored and it only inspires us to be more active in our outreach.”
