HOUSTON, September 8, 2017 /3BL Media/ - Scotiabank is donating $100,000 to The Zina Garrison Tennis & Education Academy (ZGA) to help bring relief to Houston's Third Ward and Sunnyside Community following Hurricane Harvey.

"Our thoughts are with the people here in Houston and the communities that have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey," said Doug Reynolds, Managing Director & Head Global Investment Banking Energy U.S. & Houston Office Head at Scotiabank. "We are proud to support the ZGA and the work that they are doing to help the Houston community get back on its feet. Many of the children supported by the ZGA are now homeless, living in shelters or with relatives. Their parents will have to rebuild and the quicker we can help people get back to work and back to normalcy the better."

Scotiabank's donation to the ZGA will be used specifically to help provide educational programming and physical activity for youth in the community.

"The ZGA has always been a place where kids could go to escape from the pressures and stresses of everyday life," said Zina Garrison, founder of the ZGA. "In the aftermath of the storm, we have provided food to those in the neighborhood and provided tennis programs to kids in Houston's shelters. As Houston rebuilds, Scotiabank's donation will help the ZGA to continue these relief and restoration efforts throughout the Third Ward and Sunnyside communities."

The Zina Garrison Tennis & Education Academy has been developing stars in the classroom and on the tennis court by providing educational support, positive role models and parent education in the community for 25 years, free of charge.
