WASHINGTON, October 6, 2016 /3BL Media/ - Today’s buyers are increasingly choosing purpose-driven brands and those brands are seeing the power being socially responsible holds. Laura Asiala, Vice President of Public Affairs at PYXERA Global shared examples of large, multi-national companies that have built socially responsible brands using different tactics while also growing their business at the Big Talk: Branding October 5, 2016 in Georgetown, D.C.

“Having a strong business, brand, and being socially responsible are not mutually exclusive,” said Ms. Asiala. “The strongest socially responsible companies are those that align social responsibility with strategic business objectives.”

Ms. Asiala highlighted examples of corporations that used marketing initiatives, sourcing processes, and activation of the customer experience to be a purpose-driven brand during her talk entitled The Power of Socially-Responsible Brands. A recent study by Edelman indicated that people are more likely to trust a brand that can demonstrate its direct impact on society, and upwards of 80 percent of consumers are more likely to purchase from a company that can quantifiably show how it makes a difference in people’s lives.

Branding is playing an ever-more important role in business to business (B2B). The “consumerization” of the buying process, the immense impact of the digital world, and an increasingly global landscape makes your brand an essential differentiator. By entering new markets with the explicit goal of sustainability, especially in emerging markets, and building authentic reputations as good corporate citizens, these companies were able to grow their businesses.
