MEMPHIS, Tenn.,  April 5, 2016 /3BL Media/  St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® will partner with Univision Local Media to host the annual St. Jude Promesa y Esperanza® (Promise and Hope) radio event on Thursday-Friday, April 7-8.  The event is aimed at raising awareness and support for St. Jude in their leading efforts to shape the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancers and other life-threatening diseases. Since its inception in 2006, St. Jude Promesa y Esperanza has raised more than $52 million dollars.

During the event, Univision radio listeners in 17 cities across the U.S. and Puerto Rico will be asked to become Angeles de Esperanza (Angels of Hope) by pledging to make a monthly donation of $20 or more by calling 1-800-998-8432 or visiting promesayesperanza.org.  The St. Jude Promesa y Esperanza radio event will be supported by Univision Local Media with more than 30 hours of radio programming.

Donations will be used to help patients like 8-year-old Sarah Rebecca, whose doctors in Mexico believed she had an infection and prescribed antibiotics for a fever that would not go away. Eventually, tests revealed Sarah suffered from liver cancer. Sarah and her family arrived at St. Jude in June 2015, and since then her treatment has included surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy.  Thanks to individual contributions, families like Sarah’s never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.
