Capital Finance International (CFI.co) has named TD Bank Group "Best Green Bank North America 2015." In honoring TD, the magazine's award panel noted that "TD has not just painted its corporate DNA green, but has successfully managed to modify its genetic makeup to embrace the full array of sustainability principles." The magazine also profiled TD Bank President and CEO Mike Pedersen, who was instrumental in creating TD's environmental strategy, and published a companion story on TD's environmental strategy.

While elsewhere in the world forests are cleared by the football field, in Canada they become protected at a similar clip. Since 2012, TD Forests – an initiative of TD Bank (Toronto-Dominion Bank) – has been working with The Nature Conservancy and Nature Conservancy of Canada to protect a wooded area equivalent to 2.5 football fields each and every day from developers and urban sprawl.

The bank has set aside C$13m to help protect forest ecosystems and habitats, and increase urban tree cover. To date, TD Forests has managed to extend protection to well over 33,000 acres of woodlands.
