It’s that time of the year to sum up the significant CSR trends that emerged in 2015. And what a year for CSR it was: from the Global Citizen Festival to COP21 to hundreds of conferences and events, CSR and sustainability were in the spotlight as never before.

Cone Communications has compiled an useful list of the Top Ten CSR Trends of 2015, a list that underlines the achievements of the year and points the way to more progress in 2016. Trend Number One is “Gearing Up for Global Goals.” Cone notes, “From the Sustainable Development Goals to the new COP21 pact, 2015 was a landmark year of major commitments.” And while the SDGs and COP21 were an unprecedented global effort for sustainability through policy, Cone adds that business also stepped up its leadership.

In but two examples, Citibank set an environmental finance goal of $100 billion and Bill Gates organized 20 CEOs, investors, and foundation heads into a Breakthrough Energy Coalition to support clean energy.
