ORLANDO, Fla., January 22, 2016 /3BL Media/ — To help organizations positively impact their environmental footprint, leaders from Trane, a leading global provider of indoor comfort solutions and services and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments, will present on refrigerant advances to lower greenhouse gas emissions at the 2016 American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Winter Conference, held Jan. 23-27 in Orlando.

According to a recent report from Navigant Research, commercial, residential, and industrial buildings are responsible for 47% of global greenhouse gas emissions and 49% of the world’s energy consumption. Heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems are an important component to improving statistics in both cases.

Ingersoll Rand is leading the industry by offering building owners options to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with the EcoWise™ portfolio of products, which are designed to lower environmental impact with next-generation, low global-warming-potential (GWP) refrigerants while also increasing the energy efficiency of the building.

Ingersoll Rand leaders Steve Kujak, refrigerant technology leader, Julie Majurin, advanced engineer and refrigerant expert, and Kenneth Schultz, Ph.D., principal engineer of modeling and simulation, will address key refrigerant advances at the conference. The technical presentations will highlight research on alternative refrigerants, lubricant retention, optimizing low GWP refrigerants and chiller performance with replacement refrigerants.

Ingersoll Rand Climate Commitment

In 2014, Ingersoll Rand announced the company’s Climate Commitment which pledged to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its products and operations by 2030. To date, the company’s Climate Commitment has supported the avoidance of approximately 1.5 million metric tons of CO2e globally, which is the equivalent of avoiding annual CO2 emissions from energy used in more than 200,000 homes and more than 1.6 billion pounds of coal burned. By 2030, the company expects to reduce its carbon footprint by 50 million metric tons.

As the company continues to execute upon its Climate Commitment, it will advance high performance, low GWP solutions for its customers, and will continue to measure and reduce the carbon footprint of its facilities and fleet. These solutions will continue to match the Ingersoll Rand legacy of efficient, reliable and sustainable innovations that delight the marketplace and exceed expectations.
