Apparently when people come to work at the Trane plant in Tyler, Texas, they like it so much, they stick around ─ a long time.

Trane leaders recently hosted a 60th anniversary event at the Tyler, Texas, plant, where they honored employees with 50-plus year tenure, including two who started work the year the plant opened its doors in 1956. Trane is a leading global provider of indoor comfort solutions and services and a brand of Ingersoll Rand. The Tyler plant produces systems for both American Standard and Trane.

“We’re honored to have the opportunity to recognize these employees for their decades of service to Trane,” said Ted Crabtree, Tyler plant leader for Trane. “It’s dedicated employees such as these who enable to Trane to remain the industry leader it is today.”

The honored employees included two employees with 60-plus year tenure, one of whom is still working at the plant, Jerry. D. Hawbaker, lead tool maker; and a second who retired earlier this year, Harold L. Smith, inspector. Both Hawbaker and Smith are “year one” employees who started the when the plant opened six decades ago.

Other honored employees include William “Cotton” Brulisauer, Jr., tool maker, with 58 years of experience; Charlie Gilley, maintenance technician, with 57 years of experience; Bill Graves, setup tool specialist, with 52 years; and the following employees each of whom has 50 years of experience: Kilmer “Mac” Adams Jr., assembler; Scotty M. Christian, lead tool maker; and Alvernice McLendon, production clerk. Smith, Brulisauer and Graves retired this year. Neither Smith nor Brulisauer were able to attend the event.
