Denver, Colo., May 22, 2013 /3BL Media/ - $2 million was raised in 20 hours as people from all over the U.S. were texting donations for victims of the Oklahoma tornado.  At this time, just over $3.3 million has been raised through the nonprofits who are running text donation campaigns through mGive.

“Officials say the recovery from this disaster will top $3 billion and mobile donations give everyone the ability to help make a difference when we see the devastation in people’s lives from a tragedy like this,” said Jenifer  Snyder, executive director of The mGive Foundation.

The mGive Foundation is the leader in the text donation industry processing, 85 percent of all mobile donations. mGive invented the mobile channel for social good and has the technology and expertise to handle the outpouring of text donations during big disasters like the Oklahoma tornado, Super Storm Sandy, Haiti and more. mGive also runs hundreds of text campaigns for nonprofits, large and small, that want to mobilize support (volunteer time, money and other resources) in non-disaster situations.

“mGive’s role is to make sure our mobile technology runs flawlessly, donation pledges are processed quickly and everyone who uses the mobile channel for donations is protected from fraud,” said Snyder. “We make sure text donations get to their intended destination as quickly as possible, safeguarding the donor, the nonprofit, the wireless carriers and ultimately ensuring victims of disaster get the help they need.”

Currently, there are 12 mGive campaigns running for those who want to text a donation for victims of disasters like the Oklahoma tornado.

“The most important thing to remember is that each one of us has the ability to help someone in need with four easy clicks at the mobile device that’s probably at our fingertips all day long,” said Snyder. “We can all be everyday philanthropists, saving the world one text at a time.”
