With publication of its 2015 Annual Report and Corporate Responsibility Report, Verizon today demonstrates how the company is leveraging the power of its technology and network to solve critical needs and drive social change in key areas, including education, health care, domestic violence and sustainability.

The CR report explains how Verizon is using its unique assets to make the world a better place for future generations and creating measurable, positive impacts – particularly to help the most vulnerable in our society.  The report shows what Verizon is doing to:

  • Use its innovative capabilities and technology to improve education and healthcare, and fight domestic violence.
  • Minimize its environmental footprint and improve both supply chain and product responsibility.
  • Set goals, track progress and report on performance, while committing to responsible business practices.

Highlights from the 2015 report include:

  • Education: Verizon is using its engineering expertise and resources to deliver technology-based experiential learning to underserved communities to increase student engagement in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields and to prepare students for success in the jobs of the future.  The communities Verizon works with have already shown the power of opportunity, demonstrating improvement in academic assessments and increased interest in STEM subjects.
  • Healthcare: In 2015, Verizon’s mobile technology helped improve the health of those who can’t always get the healthcare support they need, empowering them with digital tools that help them live healthier lives.  This included lower-income people struggling with chronic diseases, older people isolated due to language and cultural barriers, Americans in hard-to-reach rural areas, and teenagers living in unstable home environments.
  • Domestic Violence: Verizon has a long-standing commitment to helping those impacted by domestic violence, a critical issue that deeply affects our national community. Through Hopeline – a program that gives mobile phones to victims of domestic abuse – and other programs, Verizon’s network, technology and people can be part of the solution.
  • Sustainability: In 2015, Verizon signed the American Business Act on Climate Pledge, promising to reduce carbon intensity by 50% over their 2009 baseline by 2020.  In addition, Verizon surpassed its 6-year goal to recycle 2M pounds of used electronics collected from employees, customers and community members nationally.  By 2020, Verizon plans to recycle another 2M pounds.
