Be it through courses at the Volkswagen Driving Experience or broadcasting road safety education TV programs in China – the Volkswagen Group actively encourages people to adopt a safer style of driving. In Brazil the company wishes to target the issue at one of its root causes by offering road safety education for young teenagers.

Central to this idea is the project “Jogo da Vida em Trânsito” (Game of Life in Transit) which has since its initiation in 2011 helped about 17,000 students understand the importance of citizenship and traffic safety. According to Brazil’s Ministry of Justice, the indices show a significant increase in deaths among young people due to traffic accidents. With this in mind, Volkswagen do Brasil developed an educational video game called “Autopolis” in partnership with Virgo Game Studios and Professor Gilson Schwartz of the University of São Paulo. Distributed among teachers throughout Brazil, the game lets students partake in traffic and navigate a virtual city whilst completing various assignments. 69 schools in 6 cities participated in the year 2014 alone. The game is also available on the website of Volkswagen do Brasil.

“Jogo da Vida em Trânsito” is just one of the many educational projects in the region which benefit from Volkswagen’s ongoing involvement. For a global overview of the Group’s social, environmental and humanitarian projects visit http://sustainabilityreport2014.volkswagenag.com/#/overview.

The Volkswagen Group has made its cars not only more environmentally friendy – as evidenced by presenting the largest low-CO2 fleet to date – but also more secure, through the implementation of innovative driver assistance systems.
