World Environment Center Elects New Board Leadership for 2016
Strengthens Its Role as Premier Global Sustainability Organization
December 16, 2015 /3BL Media/ - The World Environment Center’s (WEC) Board of Directors today announced a new slate of officers and members to lead and strengthen this global non-profit organization for 2016 and beyond. Appointed as the new Chairman is Francisco Suárez Hernández, Corporate Affairs Officer of Coca-Cola FEMSA, based in Mexico City. Mr. Suárez is WEC’s first Chairman from Latin America. He will lead the Board’s efforts to assess and implement a new strategic plan and expand membership development and related initiatives in this and other regions.
“It is an honor and a great responsibility to lead the strategic growth and development of WEC around the globe. Working with current and future members from different fields, countries, and companies is fundamental for our commitment to propose solutions to present and future challenges in the private sector, while simultaneously generating economic, social, and environmental value for our stakeholders,” said Mr. Suárez.
Other appointments made today are:
- Vice Chair: Linda J. Fisher, Vice President, Safety, Health & Environment and Chief Sustainability Officer, DuPont
- Secretary: C. Scott Fulton, President, Environmental Law Institute.
New members appointed for three-year terms are:
- Sergio Kato, Corporate Vice President, Sustainable Management, Ricoh
- Kelly M. Semrau, Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Affairs, Communication & Sustainability, SC Johnson
- Scott Tew, Executive Director, Center for Energy Efficiency & Sustainability, Ingersoll Rand.
Members re-appointed for a second three-year term are:
WEC also wishes to acknowledge the tremendous contributions made by three individuals who have completed their maximum two terms of service:
- Mike Barry, Director of Sustainable Business, Marks & Spencer
- Neil C. Hawkins, Corporate Vice President, Chief Sustainability Officer, Environment, Health & Safety, The Dow Chemical Company
- Leena Srivastava, Executive Director, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).
