150 Corporations Take Action on Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace

Corporate executives of 150 companies have joined in an unprecedented collaboration. They are committing their companies to open discussion on the issues of ethnicity and gender in the workplace.

The new initiative, the C.E.O. Action for Diversity and Inclusion, has launched by posting more than 70 examples of efforts by companies to address these topics. Members—including PayPal, Qualcomm, Procter & Gamble, Merck, General Mills, Cargill, Pepsico, ConAgra, Hershey, Pfizer, State Street and Walmart—have pledged to promote workplace dialogue, to introduce or expand education on implicit biases, and to publicly share their best actions, according to the New York Times.

Efforts can be searched by industry category on the initiative’s website. When 47% of the country’s workers are women and 37% are minorities, this innovative idea makes a lot of basic business common sense. I’m John Howell for 3BL Media.
